“I recently found out about West Coast Flying Trapeze from a friend of mine who had done the same thing in Seattle.  I'm so glad she told me about it!They were friendly, helpful, and most importantly very knowledgeable about what they were doing.  In our first two hour class, we went from practicing on a bar a few feet off the ground, to swinging from a trapeze 30 feet up and being caught by one of the experts on the team.  All this while being strapped into a safety harness made the whole experience really fun.  We're definitely going to return. I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a little something different.  It was a great price and great fun.”

“Fact: I have always wanted to run away and join the circus. It's even on my bucket list. I'm not kidding. Last week my fiance said he had a surprise planned for today - he wouldn't tell me what it was, but only that I had to wear tight clothes similar to what I'd wear for rock climbing. So when we arrived at the top of Cypress mountain and I saw the trapeze rig in the distance, I was elated. I don't think he knew about my circus bucket list notch and how this was taking me one step closer to fulfilling my carni-dream, but man did he ever nail it. When we arrived we were greeted by the team and signed our waivers. Then we got a quick intro and were asked if we had any previous trapezing experience. Since we didn't, we were taken over to a practice bar to learn the basic move we'd be mastering up on the trapeze. After everyone had a chance to grab hold of the bar, swing their knees up and let go of their hands (something I'm pretty sure everyone in the history of being a kid on a playground has tried at some point) it was time to get on to the fun stuff. We were strapped in to safety belts and one by one climbed the ladder up to the platform where we'd begin our flight. The three coaches were really accommodating and patient, especially when I realized that I was actually quite afraid of being so high up - they were really nice about it and gentle in the way they prepared me for my first jump off the platform. I think they saw the terror in my eyes as I clung to the hand bars. Everyone got several turns on the trapeze practicing the moves we had been taught on the ground, with one of the coaches making calls to us and talking us through the whole process as we were swinging. I honestly felt really safe being held by a safety line and having someone tell me exactly what to do and when to do it. After the group had gotten the hang of swinging upside-down and reaching out to an imaginary person, it was time to try a real catch - that is, we would be swinging from our knees and reaching our hands out into the awaiting hands of the catcher, who would then swing us from his arms as we let go of the trapeze we were holding onto with our legs. I'm not explaining this very well, but if you've ever seen a trapeze performance you'll know what I'm talking about. We each got to try a real catch twice, and it was exhilarating! To think that an hour ago we had never been on a trapeze and now we were actually doing a trick with another person - it looked pro! I would definitely recommend giving this a shot - it's a great way to spend a few hours. It makes a great date, or even a family activity (there were people of all ages in our class), and I can see how it can become quite addictive. The price is pretty reasonable for something completely out-of-the-ordinary, and there's nothing else like this in Vancouver. The guys running this have decades of experience and were really good teachers; it was clear from the get-go that they love what they do. Also, they got me one step closer to wearing a multi-coloured leotard and swinging through the air with the greatest of ease - so for that they have my eternal gratitude. We already signed up for our next visit!”
