A recent study found that a trip to the library can make a person as happy as if he or she just got a raise. That’s why we’ve been sending our interns out to the library for research so much. The only downside is you’re generally not allowed to shout for joy in a library. But we know a place where you can share your joy and fully express yourself, and all you need is one of today's SocialShopper deal options: $43 for an art-and-tapas dining experience for one, including one small canvas and one tasting plate (value $72), or $79 for an art-and-tapas dining experience for two, including 2 small canvases and two tasting plates (value $144), or $139 for an art-and-tapas dining experience for four, including four small canvases and four tasting plates (value $288) at Raw Canvas (up to 52% off).

Library cards are tickets to worlds of adventure and joy, but generally speaking you can’t eat, drink or make beautiful paintings when you’re there. Thankfully we live in a world with Raw Canvas, where not only can you eat, drink and paint, but it is also encouraged! Raw Canvas raises the bar with organic charcuterie and cheese plates, made from delicious locally sourced ingredients. While you nosh, raise a glass of craft beer or wine, and admire the gorgeous art on the walls, take down notes to make some art of your own. Smocks, brushes, canvas, and paints from Granville Island are all provided, and Raw Canvas will take care of the cleanup, too.

Raise your expectations for a good time, and let Raw Canvas blow them away. Their fun and unique take on art and dining is not to be missed, and thanks to this deal it’s a value you’ve got to check out. With great savings on a terrific night out, we know this deal is going to make you happy.

Solid four-star rating on yelp

"No matter if you're the next Van Gogh or if you're just looking for an entertaining night out, I would highly recommend Raw Canvas! I went here the other night for my Birthday and had a wonderful experience.
A wide range of paint colours and brushes to choose from, the small canvas was actually fairly large (two of my pals even teamed up and shared one!). The staff was very friendly and informative of the menu for both food and drinks. You can even bring your drinks down into the painting area!
So much fun :) I will for sure be going back!"

"Oh, hello, inner artist," says Raw Canvas. "Won't you come in and allow yourself to show?"
As your inner artist excitedly but cautiously enters the lounge, it will be eased at the notion that the inner hungry belly gets to perform first. Their delectable selection of cheese and charcuterie will set your stage, and leave you feeling satisfied as you head to the painting studio area. Oh, and don't forget to listen to your inner sommelier and grab another glass of wine on your way.
With several different sizes of canvas, each with a different price tag, your inner artist is encouraged to let loose and experiment with colours, textures, and techniques. Great music sets the stage....my inner dancer happily shared the stage with inner artist...they were great company, actually.
Wonderful date place, including a date with yourself...go for it....there is something for each 'inner' part of you."

"I love the idea behind Raw Canvas. Basically an artist studio, restaurant, work space and café they offer up plenty of option for cool people around town to take advantage of what they offer. Up front are a few small tables, a few more communal tables, a few less pugs, free Wi-Fi and table service. People are spread around lunching and working the same.
In the back are easels set up for painting and with such a cool atmosphere I'm guessing the creativity really flows back there. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here (and that's not just the delicious cheeses speaking) and I wish there was something similar in my own 'hood"

"Grab your wine glasses and paintbrushes, friends! We're going painting!
What a great concept! This fun little joint not only serves small batch wines and beer along with delicious charcuterie plates, but also has painting. Tell me, if you aren't an artist, when was the last time you picked up a paint brush and exercised your artist muscle?
Raw Canvas is a perfect place for a first date, girls night or even big group outing. Having something for everyone, it's the perfect night out.
I went with girlfriends on a Thursday night. We shared a double portion of the meat and cheese plate, built on suggestions by the friendly staff, and also imbibed in some of the tasty wines. They had live music that wasn't overwhelming while dining and had a great vibe...
We then grabbed our wine glasses and headed to the back to work on a joint canvas. The artist in residence for the night helped us get set up and we were off. The resulting painting won't be hung up in the Met anytime soon, but there sure were laughs for days..."

SS Says

5 Reasons Raw Canvas is Hot

1. Art is subjective, and everyone is a critic. And all those critics have given Raw Canvas a solid four-star yelp rating.

2. Make your happiness last longer with two vouchers.

3. Science has proven that the longer a person has to travel, the less happy they are when they get there. Thankfully, Raw Canvas is conveniently located in central Yaletown.

4. If sharing makes you happy, share some gift vouchers with your friends.

5. Tax is not included, but you’ll be happy to know that you won’t have to worry about cleaning up the paint.

1. We ordered the Ganache for dessert. It was freezer burnt. We could not offer up our feedback as the waiter never returned 2. The painting room below is quite crowded. I was bumped throughout the night and had a constant stream of traffic walking by and behind me. 3. The "professional" was sitting on his stool, reading his book. Offering no feedback, or guidance. He showed us the lay of the land at the beginning like where to get our brushes, palettes, and paint, but no contact after that. 4. There were no napkins or towels at the sink. Nothing to dry our hands while cleaning the water bucket, or to wash hands after you've finished. The evening was supposed to include "cleaning", but we were left to clean our own stations, palettes, brushes, buckets, etc. 5. MOST IMPORTANTLY, We went to pay the bill and we were presented a bill with a "mandatory" gratuity of over $20. After I signaled someone over to inquire, I was told that it was a mandatory tip since most people with coupons don't tip on the full amount. I told her that was illegal, unless posted in advance, or told to us. The bill did not even say "gratuity". It just had a line with a charge. Most people would pay that bill and add another tip on top of it, thinking a gratuity was not already included. She insisted that this is how they do it as they are also providing a "painting service" which is more service than just a restaurant server. As you can see with my points above, there was actually not much service involved at all throughout the night, and I'd like to control my gratuity accordingly...or at least be made aware in advance that it would be included in the final bill. I understand for large groups typically of 6 or more the gratuity is included...but again, that is always posted on the bill, or the server tells you in advance. I think it is very sneaky to include a gratuity without telling the paying customer. I don't even have any idea what percentage they used!
