The life of a poet is pretty lonely. Sitting around all day, getting inspired and bleeding your heart out onto the page, knowing that your work will never be truly understood or appreciated while you’re alive. Plus, finding all those rhyming words is a real drag. Like, what rhymes with “habour?” Not much, but you won’t really care once you’re enjoying today's SocialShopper deal: $179 for a two-night stay for two people in a harbour view room with breakfast, plus appetizer to share with 2 glasses of wine at Harbour House Hotel (value $358).

“Roses are red, and if you’re feeling blue, a two-night vacation is what you must do.” Not exactly amazing verse, we know, so maybe you’ll be moved to write something better when you come to Harbour House for your two-night stay. Find your muse among the verdant green fields of the organic farm, charming local attractions or while ensconced in the sweet amenities at the Harbour House. There’s also lots of delicious food for your soul, gorgeous views of the sunrise, and even complimentary wireless internet access so you can email your poems to your publisher whil enjoying your free appetizer and wine with your special guest. No metaphors here, this deal is literally amazing.

We don’t know much about free verse, but we know about getting free stuff with great deals, and this one is a doozy. Not only do you get to recapture your personal inspiration and score all sorts of amazing perks, you’ll do it all while saving a boatload of money. That’s the kind of poetic justice we love to share.

"This hotel is an easy 10 minute walk from town, where there are plenty of restaurants, gift shops, grocery store, bakery, etc. Our room was very spacious, with a pitched roof, and French doors onto the terrace that provided maximum sunlight and a fantastic view down the harbour... There is masses of parking both at the front of the hotel and at the back. The back entrance means there is one less set of stairs to climb.
Attached to the hotel is a 3 acre organic farm which is open to the public for viewing. The chickens looked plump, the strawberries were hanging from the plants, the pea and bean vines were covered in pods, the bees were active at the hives, and the tomato hothouse was a delight. Produce from the farm is used in the hotel and is also available for purchase at the hotel farm stand. The salad that I was served in the restaurant came with fresh new peas that were incredibly sweet. The staff were very friendly and we so enjoyed our 3 night stay that we stayed on for a 4th night."

"If you haven't been to Salt Spring in decades, forget the Harbour House of old, with the jugs of cheap beer in the rednecky bar, the beige-Tuesday lounge and the basic restaurant (I'm talking circa 1989 here)... It's now a destination! The rooms don't have the ambience of a B&B, but the beds and pillows are really good, the rooms tidy and the wake-up call unique: goats! If breakfast is an indication, the food overall is better than your typical hotel-restauruant fare by a good shot, and locally sourced. Service is friendly, parking is ample and the hotel is in easy (10 minutes or less) walking distance to Saturday's Farmer's Market in the heart of Ganges. Salt Spring is clearly struggling - the dear, old Fulford Inn is boarded up, and Moby's Pub is intermittently dead - but the venerable Harbour House is working hard to earn your support!"

"It is a very quiet and clean hotel. I had a great time. The staff is friendly and the location is SUPERB! I was travelling with family and we would all do our own thing because downtown is just in walking distance. They had the Hastings House Hotel across too (tripadvisor #1). Feel free to walk across from the hotel to the private entrance of Hastings House Hotel! They have fabulous view, awesome landscape and 5 stars restaurant!!! Will definitely come back next time."

SS Says

5 Reasons You’re Safe at Harbour House

1. Snag up to four vouchers per person and write yourself an epic poem of all the fun times you had at Harbour House.

2. The life of a poet doesn’t have to be solitary. Find a “writing partner” to share this deal with.

3. What rhymes with “family getaway?” That’s a question you can pose to your family when they come to Harbour House for your next family outing.

4. If you’re the kind of poet who enjoys being all angsty and unhappy, then you should skip the free parking that Harbour House is providing with this deal.

5. Reservations are required, and don’t take “poetic license” with your arrival date or you might just find your voucher forfeited.
