Amazing 4.5-star review rating on yelp!

"This place is one of Vancouver's best kept secrets and here I am, letting the cat outta the bag..... DANG IT!!!
Alas, I can't be a greedy Gretchen anymore.
Dunbar is my FAVOURITE movie theatre in all of Vancouver. It's a bold statement, but I'm sticking to it.
Your honour, please allow me to plead my case:
1) The seating is ridiculously good. Large, comfy seats that recline. You can also lift the armrest for more room or for some snuggle time. Lot's of leg room too!
2) They still have Cheap Tuesdays!!! Remember when ALL theatres used to offer this. Yeah... me too.
3) Their prices are still a buck or two cheaper than the rest of the big movie theatres.
4) No matter how new the movie is, chances are if you don't catch it the day it's released, you can catch it the next night. The show's here don't often sell out. Why? Because only the cool kids know about this place and they like to keep it to themselves (those greedy boogers).
5) BEST... POPCORN...IN...THE...CITY"
- Carmen C. (yelp)

"They installed new seats some time ago and they're incredibly comfortable - the seats actually recline (to a degree) and are generously wide (that's not a phrase I say usually, by the way). The arm rests lift up, so you can take someone on a date and get in some nice cuddle time, or just hog two seats to yourself, I guess, and pretend that you're home.
The price is also very nice. For a 3D movie it's $12.50 (incl. tax), compared to, inexplicably, $15.50 + tax at Scotiabank Theatre. A non-3D movie will run you under $10 and if you have valid student ID, including university students, it's just $7 from Sunday through Thursday.
Again: Most comfortable seats in the city and great prices. Concession is cash only, but a $20 will take you a long, long way, and their most expensive combo is $10. Sweet."
- Ysabelle R. (yelp)

“I go to a lot of movies, and I have to say I've been pretty happy since I moved closer to Dunbar Theatre. The seating, picture and sound are all now excellent, and for my money at least, it has the best popcorn in the city. It's also rarely crowded, meaning you can get excellent seats in the balcony practically up until showtime. If you're taking public transit, the 7 will get you there.”
- Darren N. (yelp)

“Great popcorn, sound and after the new seats were installed - comfiest seats in town! I wish they had more shows playing, but I will always opt for dunbar if I have a choice of theatre.”
- Zoe A. (yelp)

"All the features of a classic cinema. A single, large screen, slightly dusty, worn decor, big seats, good selection of 'treats' and kids-friendly. An original balcony too. A hard-to-beat venue. The usherettes need to glam-up a bit though."

SS Says

5 Reasons Dunbar Theatre Has Done it Again

1. Got a date? Dinner and a movie, perhaps?

2. Tax is included in the price of the deal. Movie magic!

3. The recently renovated theatre includes a new screen, so even old movies look new again.

4. Just like the imaginative power of movies, this deal is unlimited. Get as many vouchers as you want.

5. It’s a scientific fact that movies look better when shown in a room that smells of traditional movie theatre popcorn.
